About This Game Isomer is an isometric strategy game inspired by classic turn based games from the 90s and many other more recent survival titles. It's open ended, sandbox and each world is procedurally generated leading to an almost unlimited number of different worlds to explore, mine, loot and conquer. You play the role of the commander of an alien force sent to a distant planet tasked with setting up a mining outpost. You land with a dropship and a complement of minions who will mine for resources, build fortifications and blast any unwitting humans who venture too close. Things aren't polished, there's a lot of features that we hope to see included, and control limitations take a little getting used to, but it functions, and it's fun. You play the aliens, invading from another planet, you fight humans, who are also invading from another planet, I guess. Gather resources, build your base, trade up your inventory, explore, and conquer. Some simple formulas done properly to give you great gameplay value.Now the game has tutorials: personally I liked it better without them. I liked being able just to play the game. You got attacked in your base in the first 2 minutes of game play? That's the tutorial. Worked great for me. Had some questions about what actions you should prioritize, but learning that is the bulk of the enjoyability of this type of strategy game, and it's not hard to figure out by experimentation. So it's a great game if you actually like to learn while you play games rather than obliviously carrying out instructions and quests. Tone: 4/5 Simple style, kind of cartoony. I like that. Night time is even kind of creepy the first couple times. Kind of like first play through of Minecraft creepy, but less impending doom. There's even hints of a developing story taking place. I sure hope that gets implemented more in the future!Personal skew: 2/5 I haven't played this type of game in a long time, and cartoon-y-ness doesn't ruin my emersion. These are pros for me. But unfortunatly the Developer of Isomer is either dead or he has some other rubish excuse for not completing this great idea of a game. Hopefully the Dev will be resurrected like jesus was but he can come back as developer jesus and finish the game he started to create. Other than that i would say its a good purchase but its not worth it until the developer decides to use social interaction with the people that payed to fund the creation of Isomer.. No word from the Development team for... what... a year maybe? Regardless, this game has been abandonded - Save your money as its not really playable in its current state and Steam should remove this from their store!. No news from dev since 6 month !!Just don't buy this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.... I can't quite put my finger on it, but this game really scratches an itch for me. It's an interesting blend of old school X-Com, Minecraft, and a little bit of tower defense thrown in for good measure. I find it hard to put down as there is a continual "in a few more seconds my next step in the grand plan will come to fruition". It's definitely still being polished but there is a lot here to like already. I've easily gotten my money's worth already, and am still discovering things each time I play.HOWEVER: This is a game that is pretty safe to say died in early access. While I greatly enjoyed the time I put into it (almost 70 hours, wow), I cannot recommend its purchase to anyone at this time - the game is _playable_ but is pure sandbox now. If a classic xcom-esque sandbox is your thing, maybe this is worth a look, but caveat emptor.So changing my recommendation from "yes" to "no" - worth the price to me personally, but probably not for most.
